County Line Rd. Infrastructure Improvement Update
|
|
Hi all, Just posting in to add County Line Rd, between Biddle and Loraine St. to the local street closures. The gas company(PECO) has started work as of two days ago to replace the gas lines on both these blocks. This section of street is being closed completely in the early morning to about mid-day. Let me add a personal comment to this information. Both the residents and businesses along these streets knew while the sewage line was being replaced, that the gas company would return to replace that line also. We found this out by talking with the crew working to put in the new sewage line and not through "official" channels via Haverford Township or Commissioner Holmes. The Ardmore Avenue closure is listed on the Township website (http://www.haverfordtownship.com) but no mention of County Line Rd. is to be found. When the gas company started work two days ago, it was a surprise to most of us who live, own property or run business because no advance notice or notice of any kind was given prior to the work starting - it would have been nice to have a few days notice of this work. The duration of this road work is anyone's guess and the best I could gather from asking the crew working was weeks to possibly two months, depending on who one asks. Another serious issue is the dust left behind at the end of the day. Within five minutes, the time it took for me to load my car and get in, my throat and nose were just about closed from the dust in the air that every passing car was kicking up. It looked like a dust storm on the block they are working on. I understand that cutting through the street is going to create a good bit of dust, but shouldn't the crew be required to clean it off the street upon finishing for the day. With County Line and Ardmore Ave. being closed, it looks like the local side streets are going to see a lot more through traffic for the time being. |
