It is with deep sadness that SABA announces the passing of an energetic and devoted neighborhood volunteer - Anthony "Tony" Damasco of Aubrey Avenue. Tony served as SABA's Assistant Treasurer and volunteered at many events including park cleanups, neighborhood garage sales, and the 4th of July celebration held at Elwell Field. His enthusiasm for life and high spirits will be greatly missed. Family and friends may call 7:00 to 9:00 PM Thursday March 27 in the Funeral Home of John Stretch, E. Eagle Rd & St. Denis Lane, Havertown. His Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11 AM Friday March 28 in St. Denis Church. Interment will follow in St. Denis Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations in his memory may be made to St. Denis Church, 2401 St. Denis Lane, Havertown, Pa. 19083. http://obit.stretchfuneralhome.com/obitdisplay.html?id=518964&listing=Cu... The first line of Tony's memorial certainly describes my favorite memories of him. I can not recall a time when humor was not part of working with Tony. His personality was always upbeat. He could joke back and forth with the best.
One serious effort was Tony working to attempt to convince the Township to name our local park after a Saint. I certainly will miss his attendance at SABA meetings, and his colorful e-mails.
