2010 SABA 5k

The Second Annual SABA 5k, to be held on Sunday, October 10, 2010. The SABA 5k event includes a 5k run (walkers are welcome also) and a 1 mile fun run/walk. The course travels through our neighborhood, starting and ending at Normandy Park. Much of the course is on the SEPTA bus path. No need to worry about the bus. The event is being held on a Sunday and the local bus route does not operate on Sundays. This event was a lot of fun for everyone last year and it promises to be even better this year.

The proceeds from this event will support SABA's neighborhood events and community outreach. Also, this year a portion of the proceeds with be donated to the Jefferson Hospital for Neuroscience. This donation is being made to honor the memory of Bill Davis, a long-time neighbor and SABA volunteer who lost his battle with brain tumors in 2009. He had received treatment and support through JHN.

Early registration (before 10/1/10) is $15 per person, $40 per family of 3, or $50 per family of 4+.
Race-day registration will be $20 per person, $50 for a family of 3, or $65 per family of 4+.

The first 150 registered participants get an event t-shirt.

If you are interested in supporting the SABA 5k, please contact Bill Gardner at wingardner(at)earthlink.net. Please know that your contribution will be greatly appreciated by SABA, the community, and those receiving services at The Jefferson Hospital for Neuroscience.

Volunteers are also needed for the event to help with set-up, on-site registration, safety marshals for the course, and clean-up. If you would like to volunteer for the event, please contact Bill Gardner at wingardner(at)earthlink.net.

Thank you in advance for your consideration and generosity and I hope to see you on race day.

We have extended the

We have extended the pre-registration deadline for the Second Annual SABA 5k to Friday 10/8. Of course, race day registration will be available but who likes standing in line longer than you have to.

Also, our generous sponsors have provided us with additional prizes and goodies. In addition to the gift certificates for The Running Place in Newtown Square, another prize that you can win is one of 2 gift certificates for 3 personal training sessions at Vertex Fitness Personal Training Studio in Bryn Mawr. These gift certificates are valued at $225. Plus, The Running Place is offering Smart ID (shoe attachment for runner identification and emergency info) to the first 100 participants and $10 coupons to all participants.

With all this available, how can you afford to not sign up and participate. I'll see you at Normandy Park on 10/10/10.

When I click on the "register online" link, I get an error page. I want to register myself and a 12 year old. Do kids have to register for the fun-run?
Thanks!

There had been an error with the online registration when we first extended the pre-registration deadline but it should be corrected by now. I just tried the link and it worked.

Kids may enter either the 1 mile run or the 5k. They do have to register if they want to get an event t-shirt, which they can get for doing either the 1 mile or the 5k. Enthusiastic participants may enter both if they would like.
