As many of you may have noticed, the house at Normandy Park was recently painted and it looks fantastic. First, I want to thank Steve Fischer for all of his work with coordinating this project including selecting a color that is both historic and truly fitting of the rustic, botanical feel we have wanted for the park. I would also like to thank Eric Gillard of the township Parks and Rec Department for seeing this project through and Nolan Painting for their help with the color selection and for the great job they did with painting the house.

Now, to further enhance the look of the house and to show off the improvements to the park, we will have our annual Fall Planting and Music in the Park event. We will be planting the newly cleared beds around the house and further improving the current beds around the perimeter. We will also possibly begin some new beds to be planted in the fall. I encourage all of you who love to garden, love the park, or just love playing in the dirt to come join us. Bring whatever cuttings, thinnings, etc you have from your yard to donate to Normandy Park. This park is already a very significant part of the community. By donating some plants, you can have your own personal connection with our little green gem. For more information about the planting portion of this day, please contact Bill Halpin at seaanglerbill@hotmail.com

The other exciting part of the day is the Music in the Park. This features a number of local musicians playing for everyone who simply wants to stop by and enjoy the music. This is always a lot of fun and has included music for both kids and adults. There is only one problem. At this point, we do not have any musicians who have agreed to play at this event. Personally, I am not well connected with the local music scene. So, if you are a local musician or if you know any who might want to play at this event, please let me know. This is a great opportunity to get some exposure as a new performer or to stay connected with your fans if you are already established. This has always been such a fun way of ending the summer and heralding in the fall. Please help us continue this event with your participation or by encouraging the musicians you know.
