Our next monthly SABA meeting will be held this Wednesday, March 10 at 7:30. As usual, we will meet at the house at Normandy Park. Turnout for the meetings during the winter was low, which makes sense since it is a quiet time for SABA. Plus, the weather kept many of us hunkered down at home. Now, the snow is finally melting, flower shoots are beginning to sprout up, and we are starting to go outside because we want to, not because we have to shovel snow. This is when SABA activities begin to pick up speed and we are most in need of your energy and enthusiasm. Our next community activity will be The Egg Hunt. Last year was the first time we did it and it was a great success. This year, The Egg Hunt will be on Saturday March 27 (rain date Sunday March 28). Rumor has it that the Easter Bunny might come visit us as the kids search for eggs. We will also coordinate this date with our spring planting event. This is earlier than last year so we will have to see if it is too soon to plant certain things. Look for updates between now and then. We hope this gets everybody thinking about your own garden, our little gem of Normandy Park, and what plants you might want to thin from your yard to donate to the park. This first event and other topics will be discussed at the next monthly meeting. I strongly encourage people to attend this meeting so you can provide your input into the types of activities and focus you would like SABA to have going into what we are sure will be another wonderful year in our community. The agenda for the meeting on Wed. 3/10 is: 1. Egg Hunt and Spring Planting, March 27 * Egg Hunt Coordinator : Kristine Aylmer aylmerfudge@yahoo.com 2. Plans for Normandy Park * Memorial to Bill Davis for Normandy Park (replace wooden bench with one to match others, plant a flower tree) 3. Update on newsletter: * Articles to be contributed 4. Volunteers needed: * Civic Council Liaison 5. Volunteers needed to help build Freedom Playground and/or to contribute to the potluck to help feed the MANY volunteers this project will take. More information will follow soon. 6. Identify other events to plan throughout the year, especially in spring and summer 7. Additional items |
