The first SABA 5k happened yesterday and was a tremendous success!! The weather was perfect, the food and drinks were plentiful, and everyone had a great time. We had 63 participants, including about 20 people who did the 1 mile run/walk and 39 who ran the 5k race.

I have to send out a HUGE thank you to all the volunteers who made this a wonderful event. Among the many people who helped organize this event, I want to particularly thank Erica Keagy for all her ideas and tremendous effort; Alain Plante for taking care of so many details; Ken Keagy for his fantastic designs of the shirt, posters, and signs; Ed Margagee for his support and equipment; and Matt Taglang for his experience and guidance.

We had many volunteers who came out to help. These volunteers included Bill Davis, Brenda Rose Simkin, Emi Leivano, Rebecca White, John Studdy, Liz Lachman, Stephanie Wingate-Gardner, Jen Leith, Jim Leith, and Mitch Cron, plus all the kids who helped too. They made sure that registration went smoothly, everyone had their questions answered, and that the participants were safe as they traveled the roads. Key to the safety were Larry Frankel and Ronnie O'Connor who rode bicycles along with the pack in the street. Larry Holmes served as starter, safety marshal, and announcer of the results.

I can't thank all of you enough for making this event the success it was. I apologize if I left out the name of any other volunteers but be assured that your help was greatly appreciated.
It was also heartening to see how many neighbors were out along the course to cheer us on.

The top male and female finishers were each awarded a $25 gift certificate to The Running Place in Newtown Square, which was donated by the store. The top 3 finishers in each age group received medals. Full results can be viewed online at www.runccrs.com/Results.htm
