Saturday July 04, 2009
Start: 07/04/2009 10:00 am
End: 07/04/2009 2:00 pm

This Saturday we will be having our annual 4th of July Celebration at Elwell Field. This is our neighborhood's longest running tradition and the biggest event of the year. As always, the event will kick off with a parade of the neighborhood children who have decorated their bikes, scooters, themselves, etc. The parade leaves from Chestnutwold Elementary at 10:00 and works its way up Morris Road to Elwell Field. All children are welcome to participate and everyone is encouraged to line the street to cheer them on.

Once at the park, we will have the decoration contest. Winners get a new bike helmet or tickets for the event activities. Then it is on to the field events (3-legged race, sack race, 50-yard dash, etc.) There will be events for all age groups so start stretching and get your running shoes ready.

Throughout the day, there will be food, the dunk tank (a perennial favorite), music and more so come out to have a fun time.

Start: 07/08/2009 7:30 pm
End: 07/08/2009 9:00 pm

SABA's July monthly meeting will be held at Normandy Park, not at Chestnutwold. If the weather is good, we will meet outside on our new picnic tables. If not, we will meet inside the house or at the pub across the street - depending on what people feel like doing. See you then for updates, discussions, and plans.

Saturday August 01, 2009
Start: 08/01/2009 9:00 am
End: 08/01/2009 1:00 pm

Let's all meet at Normandy Park to spruce up the landscaping.

We will start at 9:00 but there is no firm ending time - whenever the work is done or we are done all we can.

Some of the garden beds and hedges have become over grown and weeds are crowding out some of the beautiful plants that have been donated and planted by neighborhood volunteers. We will work on pulling weeds, trimming the hedges, removing some sections of hedge, etc. to bring out the beauty of the park. This will also help prepare the park for our fall Music and Planting event and for our first 5k run/1 mile walk which will be held this fall starting and ending at Normandy Park. Bring any garden tools you have that can be shared. Every little bit of effort counts so stop by if it is just for a little while.

See you at the park.
